Kuro Kirishima

Kichisuke Enatsu founded Kirishima Shuzo and made his first batch with black kōji in 1916. Black kōji is the older, harder-to-handle mold, the one traditional imo shochu was built on before brewers switched to easier strains, and it gives more body and a heavier sweetness. Kuro Kirishima carries that line straight from the founding: round and sweet up front, then a sharp, clean finish that cuts it. Honkaku means single distillation, so the sweet potato comes through rather than being stripped out.
Made with Kyushu-grown sweet potatoes and rice kōji. It takes food from anywhere: Japanese, Western, Chinese, or anything with heat in it.
